Communication is a process of exchanging message, ideas, information or thoughts between sender (who sends the message) and the receiver (who gets or receives the message). It can be in written or oral format. It is important for all kinds of organizations to perform their activities smoothly and correctly. Effective communication in the workplace helps the firms to establish better relation between management and subordinates. It helps to reduce misunderstanding and conflict in the organization.

The main characteristics of good communication are as follows:

1. Unending Process

Communication is important for any organization to perform its daily activities. Without proper communication organizations cannot perform their tasks correctly. Therefore, communication is a continuous and never ending process of any types of organizations.

2. Two Or More Persons

Another characteristic of communication is that it requires at least two persons (sender and receiver) to exchange ideas, information or thoughts. It is a two way process where information flows either top to bottom or bottom to top. therefore, It is a process of sharing or exchanging opinions, thoughts or ideas between two or more individuals, departments, sections, branches etc.

There are different means of communication such as oral communication, written communication or symbolic communication. So, proper medium should be selected to exchange information correctly according to the type of message, distance between the sender and receiver, nature of information etc.

Good communication should be accurate and should contain adequate information so that the receiver can understand easily without any confusion. 

6. Conciseness 

Another notable characteristic of effective communication is that it should ensure conciseness. The message should be brief, clear and should be presented in logical way
