Bases Of Standardization Of Products

There are different bases for standardization of products. There are four main bases of standardization and grading : On the basis of quantity and measurement, size, quality and color.


1. Standardization On The Basis Of Quantity And Measurement

Products are standardized on the basis of quantity and measurement. Products are also standardized on the basis of size and weight. Standard or grade of product is determined on the basis of measurement. Standard of some product is determined on the basis of kilogram, litter, meter, gauge, feet etc.


2. Standardization On The Basis Of Size

Standard of some products is determined on the basis of size, shape and form. Ready made garment, shoes, knell, screw, lumber etc are sold on the basis of size.

3. Standardization On The Basis Of Quality

Standard of product is determined on the basis of quality. Paddy, rice, cotton, medicines etc are standardized on the basis of quality. It becomes difficult to determine quality of consumer goods. So, grading method is applied to solve the problem of quality in agricultural products.

4. Standardization On The Basis Of Color

Some products are standardized on the basis of their color and grade. Fruits such as apple, oranges, bananas etc. and raw yam and other goods are standardized and distinguished on the basis of color.

The above-mentioned are the bases of standardization of products. Any suitable basis among them is selected for standardization of products according to nature and features of products.
